We are providing you with several updates about the UnityPhilly app and project.
- The app is going live! We are activating the UnityPhilly app as of Monday, February 25th. This means you may use the app to call for help during an overdose emergency or you may be contacted on the app to provide naloxone to an overdose emergency.
- For iphone users, after you signal an alert, a call to a number with a 215 area code will appear on your screen. You need to indicate “call” for the number to be dialed, which will then connect you to an operator.
- For android users, the number will automatically be dialed once an alert is signaled.
- When speaking with the operator, you may be asked the location of the overdose, a call back number, and a description of the overdose event. Please indicate that you’re with the UnityPhilly project when speaking with the operator.
- We plan to begin enrolling active opioid users starting on Friday, February 21. As the number of active opioid users in the study increases, the chances of you receiving an alert increases. So, be prepared to start receiving alerts within the next week.
- Please keep your phone charged and location turned on within the UnityPhilly app when you’re able to serve as a responder. Please contact us if you are out of naloxone, have lost it, or need a replacement kit for any reason.
